About Crossing the Green Frontier
Healing, hope, and happiness have a home—and we help you reach it.
Crossing the Green Frontier is a mental health nonprofit organization serving people who have graduated from an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). We offer a much-needed bridge between an IOP and reentering the world full-time, which provides added benefit to our program participants—and hope for a better future.
Spearheaded by Lauren Alexander, a committed professional with direct knowledge of the IOP and its benefits, she envisions helping people reach and cross their own “green frontier.” Ms. Alexander has designed the 5-week program to address a set of needs that can produce measurable benefits beyond its duration.
The organization works with other IOP providers throughout the Tampa Bay area, providing existing IOP graduates with an extension of the experience through an educational program customized to meet their needs.
Meet Our Founder: Lauren Alexander
Hi! I’m Lauren, and I’m a survivor of PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder. I’ve experienced the debilitating effects of these disorders and from 2021 to 2024 have advanced my recovery through three IOPs. (Yes, three.) And my gratitude for these programs is huge because they teach us conflict resolution, self-assertiveness, the importance of self-care, and how to handle triggers.
We get lots of good handouts and info from our IOP sessions, but let’s be honest. We take our handouts home and never look at them again.
What we need is practice.
I’m a certified instructor and my purpose with Crossing the Green Frontier is to provide a safe place for my fellow IOP graduates to practice what they learned in the IOP and re-enter the “real world” with confidence – feeling ready and prepared to handle a trigger whenever and however it arises.
